Admissions
Khyber Medical College is the most competitive educational institution of the province. Criteria for admission to First Year MBBS include:
1) Passing F.Sc (Pre-Medical) or Equivalent
2) Passing an Entry Test
More than 200 students are admitted to the First Year MBBS each year. Most of the seats are filled by open competition. There are some reserved seats for the students belonging to the tribal area and some self-finance seats. For more information on admission criteria and quota of seats, please contact the college directly.
Admission season usually starts near the end of each year. Admission openings are announced in leading newspapers. The First Year class starts in January.

To obtain MBBS degree one has to complete five academic years of study at KMC. Each year has different courses and duration.

Examinations
At the end of each academic year there is a comprehensive examination for promotion to the next year. Examination content includes the subjects studied in that particular year. Examination in each subject/course includes a written test and an oral test (viva voce). In order to pass a subject, an examinee must pass both the written and oral parts. Minimum passing marks for each subject are 50% of the total marks for that subject.
A student failing in any subject is not promoted to the next year.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Study? That's not KMC is all about! Khyber Medical College is really a fun place. Study is just part of the fun. Students are lively, cheerful and friendly and why they shouldn't be; they are the future physicians, determined to help the suffering humanity with a warm and friendly heart.
Extracurricular activities include sports, fun fairs, musical concerts, literary activities and much more.
Sports
Many games are being played all year round. Every year there is a grand Sports Week in the college in which all the five years compete with each another in every major game. There are separate boy's and girl's teams in each class. Prizes are distributed amongst the best teams and best players at the end of the week.
Literary Society
KMC literary society is one of the best literary societies of Peshawar University. Headed by a literary secretary the society carries out debates and poetry competitions all year round. The society is further divided into English, Urdu and Pushto society, each of which is headed by a secretary and his or her team of editors.
Cenna
Cenna the annual magazine of KMC can no doubt be called the crown jewel of the college. Literary Society of KMC works hard throughout the year to bring to life Cenna for which the students of KMC wait the whole year. The magazine is named after a great muslim physician and scientist, Ibn-i-Cenna. Every KMC student is eligible to write for the magazine. Students can write articles, poems, stories or can fill out many interesting questionnaires, which after being scrutinized by the editors are published in the magazine.
LIBRARY
The college has a modern library with a collection of thousands of old and new books and journals related to medicine and health. Textbooks are also issued to students for the whole academic year.
MUSEUMS
College has an anatomy and a pathology museum. They are equipped with anatomical and pathological models and specimens.
LABORATORIES
Each basic sciences department has its own fully equipped laboratory with well-trained staff and instructors where the students and faculty carry out experiments for study and research purposes.
TEACHING FACILITIES
There are 5 air-conditioned lecture theaters in the college where the students are given lectures and demonstrations. Each theater is equipped with latest audio-visual aids.
